Kitchen Project - Phase-1 of 4

Just a reminder of what it looked like originally.

Original design view #2. Please excuse the mess!

Before starting on the ceiling!

Wall opened for access to electrical.

Electrical rerouted and wall removed.

Temporary finish work done.

Now the ceiling project begins!

Cabinets have been removed. The brown paint was for artificial "cabinet backs" so wall paint wasn't seen inside the cabinets.

The drywall was stripped from the ceiling and soffits. This revealed additional wiring that required rerouting.

Soffit framing now removed.

No more lights!

The framing was a bit sloppy and I decided to change it demensionally.

Interesting view of the "tall ceiling" we lived with for a few days.

New framing now complete.

Light fixtures installed and wired. The cardboard tacked up on the left is only part of the nightly "kitty proofing" to keep the cats on the lower level!

New drywall installed and taped.

The new ceiling finally textured and primed!

We needed to use the old cabinets for awhile just to function. They required considerable repair work before I could hang them. At least we have a place for dishes, glasses, etc., while the project moves forward.
